The TV blares – go buy this now!
As everyone runs to the mall
But something is missing this year
Something simple, something small

Perhaps we seek in too high a place
For a purpose to feel this season
Look down at the smallest child
To find the face of a reason

The future lay in the eyes of him
Who holds no office or vote
He isn’t well known, no celebrity
He isn’t a person of note

He is the child within us
Seeking ever to find the way
To feel complete and happy
To find joy on Christmas day

Close your eyes and remember
The joy of Christmas memories
No longer do we need to buy
Myriad gifts for all to please

Give something simple from your heart
Give something that can’t be bought
You’ll find the joy of Christmas then
In a memory you thought you forgot

Beautiful sentiments poetess Sharon...
a message of truth that does indeed seem to be lost in the age of credit cards and endless debt.

I wish, I really do wish, more people thought of this...it is about the gift of being.....and togetherness

Can you imagine, basing our entire economy on what is spent at Christmas time???????

Very very good one...many hugs and smiles

Wrapped up in Holiday bind
We search for true meaning
Only to finally find
It's within our own being

Thanks for the wakeup call!

Thank you all for your kind comments. This years holiday greeting was very hard to write. The spirit is just not with us at work for various reasons. I think this was the hardest holiday poem I've ever written so I do appreciate your feedback!

Well if you had to do summoning up from the depths to find this one, you did a fantastic job.

Hugs, lady and happiest of holidays.

I would certainly love it to go back to basics, for so many reasons.  Hope others take heed as well from your wonderful poem Sharon.  Merry Christmas.

Sharon,

if we could all find that child within,
the world might find a new begin.

Merry Christmas, my friend.

Sharon, how true this write is. We must all get back to basics....back to the real meaning of Christmas. Maybe if we did, our inner child would come out of hiding and play in a world of peace. hugs, Chris

Thank you all again...this was my Holiday Poem instead of a card. I don't buy cards anymore I write a poem and print it on fancy holiday paper. It's more personal than a card I buy.
