Hello new friends.  My good friend Tony or Antonio_L has lead me to your wonderful site.  I have enjoyed reading some of the poetry here and I like alot of what I have read.  Tony convinced me to post a poem here so I hope you enjoy.  I was recently discharged medically from the US Army.  I spent alot of time over seas and that is what inspired this following poem.

Knowing He May Never Come Home

David joined up knowing he may never come home,
But after what they did,
He knew he would not be alone,
There was a nation behind him,
So he put on his brave face and left into the unknown,
He would soon make everyone proud,
His final letter home said he fought with valor to save some of the guys,
He now knows he did the right thing,
But he left some of his soul out there on that battlefield,
He will never be the same man again,
Then we got the next letter,
It said David fought with valor,
And some of the guys tried to get to him,
But there was just too much in their way,
“We are sorry for your loss. As a nation, we send our deepest sympathies.”,
On March 28th David left the rest of his soul on that battlefield,
The guys did bring him home though,
And now every year on March 28th we celebrate the valor David once showed,
It’s been a few years now,
And yet somehow it is no easier,
Some of the guys who came home knew they were not alone,
For they signed up knowing they might not have made it home,
David signed up knowing he was there to bring them home,

Welcome to Passions and enjoy the variety of what you read. Although what you wrote is more prose than poetry to me, its a fine effort and shows great potential

Glad you made it over here Tom, and thanks for sharing that. Talking about stuff makes it easier.

Tom, I think you should also share that one of yours you are featuring in the E-Zine this weekend.

Thank you all for making feel so welcome.  I hope to read and post more here.  I will learn where to post what in the future.  It took Tony a little while to keep me in the write places too.  I am new to the internet posting.  Thank you all so much though.

Welcome to Passions!  Antonio must think we're ok, he keeps directing his friends and family this way.  Which makes us very happy!

If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to drop us a line.  If we don't have an answer, we make 'em up.

Enjoy yourself!
