Dusky tones from blues and umber,
Long shadows reach o'er snowy vale,
They deepen as cool sun sinks lower,
While light of day does slowly pale.

Quiet reigned throughout the valley,
'Til chilling cries of Arctic wolves,
Filled up the night with eerie howling,
Followed by the pound of hooves.

Crashing, thrashing, through the forest,
Wolves came charging lone lost deer,
Hunters chasing down their victim,
Doe eyes wide in primal fear.

The ersine creature, broke and bleeding,
Lay gasping in a deathly rattle,
The gruesome carnage soon was over,
The strong had won survival battle.

Dusky tones from blues and umber,
Long shadows reach o'er snowy vale,
They deepen as cool sun sinks lower,
While light of day does slowly pale.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Linda, it does sadden me to see deer always being hunted as prey by wolves and other animals as I love deer so much, but then I do accept what Steve Irwin says about "It is just nature's way!" (sad sigh) I just wish deer and wolves could call a truce and both become vegetarians, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh! Oh! A part of me was hoping that you wouldn't read this post! But, yes, Steve Irwin is correct, "It is just nature's way!" ~ Noah, I join you in that "sad sigh"!!!
I duly noted that crying emoticon that  you placed beneath our ersine friend. I commiserate...

That was an "excellent" and thoughtful response, Dear Belle! You "captured" the essence of my poem, my wise friend!
