Oh heart breaker
how do you skip so many beats
and change the rhythm
of love lost and found
without keeping.

Where has the time gone
and when did it stop
striking the hour twelve chimes
as the second hand sweeps
half past a life time
tracking the tears that I've wasted.

How well you conceal
the sun on your face
that dials your name in the shadows
alarmed by the sound of silence
set to go off in the wake.

For a time you let on
too late for the day
flicking your wrist
without passing a glance
at the clock that you race
repeating the breaks.

Killing time in your haste
going nowhere.

love the expressions you use...

I am half past my lifetime and wonder some times if I can withstand the rest

Lori,

damn...when you write, you REALLY write!
this was so beautifully expressed with a
hint of sadness too...rarely is I find
a poet who time after time continues to
both amaze and inspire me, but you surely
do!

Happy holidays to you sweet lady,
Amy

Killing time -- temporizing in any way -- is waiting to die. Not your style, lady, not your style at all. Live. Now.

I enjoyed reading this and the above segment was my favorite part.
