When festive lights and mistletoe
hang from walls and doors
the restlessness of youth
calls again as once before.

No jingle bells or snow capped hills
but the heat of love on hold
burns inside the flame, desire
and the longings of the old.

Fanned by the air of loving you
and restrained to live on land
a mind recalls how spirit love
walked one day hand in hand.

Ten thousand holy men and more
can’t douse the flame, desire,
destined still to burn and glow
till sun bows to pale moonlight.

But sun no more can age and fade
than love can choose to die
and kill the spark of energy
between both you and I.

As prophets know and wise men say,
love is the fire; desire, the flame!

Thank you very much, Jason. I do appreciate you taking the time to comment.

And Bluesy ... I "got it" a long time ago, you know but still I live alone.  Sigh!  'tis merely the times we live in no doubt.  Compliments of the season to you!

Thank you, Midnitesun.  One day all our wishes will come true - I'm a firm believer in that!

Thank you all for your lovely comments and, Gentle Spirit, thanks for the welcome.  I've been around here for some time now but it's always nice to be read for the first time.  Thanks.
