Upon reading that Noah is from Colorado, I, for some reason, waxed nostalgic about a place I've never seen save for movies, books and news programs.

Upon a High Western Land

where would Colorado be
if not at the end of the river
nestled among the aspen
drinking in the sun
donning cloaks of snow
whispering through the trees
the quaking call to thee

it could not be
among the salt flats
nor beside the aqua sea
for its land has stretched its limbs
reaching you and me

it rises high
above the ivory slopes
touching a sky
of azure-laden strokes
as if dressed
in crepe-paper streamers
of lavender and cream

leaving in me a song
quite settled in a dream

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Noah will smile at this write!
I am living in Denver, and barely recognized this place you write about!
LOL, but the city is the city
and yet, when I see those Rockies in my back yard.....

Most beautiful, VAS.  Magical, really.  Should become the State's official poem!
