swallowing

hurt, like melted glass
etches the core
of me
your name, our love
patience
one set of prints on the shore line
salt-ringed
like fingertips pressed to lips
hushed ... swallow
b r e a t h e
the flavor of lilies
and die
a Shakespearean death
