Don’t want to paint a picture
That says a thousand words,
I just want to say a few.
What one color should I use?

Would you understand
If only I tipped my brush in white
Lining across dark canvas
To meet you on starry night?

Would you lend a helping hand
If my brush was tipped solely red
With camel hair bristled flair
All over canvas fled.

Would you see marks on blue fabric
Without any strokes at all,
Picturing just a few words
Where stippling tears would fall?

One color won’t paint it right;
it speaks too many words.
So, upon untouched canvas it has to be
a brush from you in colors dipped

To speak your many words.

Sadelite that was the sweetest
poem and it tripped along perfectly.
What room in your memories did it come from?

Antonio,
From what what room in my memories did this come?  If, in fact it did come from memories, I would have placed them in the attic.
   Thanks for your positive comments!

iliana,
It's nice to hear from you again.   Thanks for your compliment, but an artist, I'm not!   That's why I tried to use only one color-it seemed simpler!   As far as this having been written with anyone in thought, it wasn't.   It was written more in poetic adventure to discover what color could say.
I see your first poem is well received.  I'm looking forward to others.

gheber,
What an interesting name (I hope I spelled it right)!  What color do you use to say wow?   I think you used bright yellow.  Thank you!

sunnyone,
So you're an artist, in addition!   I'm really not very artistic.  As I told iliana, that's why I used just one color!
Thanks for the comment-you've inspired me to get out that brush today (to in reality try one color--in watercolor, I think.)  Gee--
thanks!  I wonder what will happen--you never can tell with watercolor!

passing shadows,
Do YOU paint with medium other than words?
If not, I bet you should!   Thanks for stopping in again.  I always enjoy your visit.   I hope everything is going well with you.

An execellent insight -- wish I'd thought of it. We do define the stream by showing the tiny flows and eddys within it. A fine poem here.

RatL.
You are most kind in your words.  Don't worry-you have enough wanderful flowing thoughts without having penned this one.
Exclamation point, exclamation point!

yes, monochromatics will do
one color can have a great impact, and white on dark is very dynamic

Great write, Sadelite!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Seymour,
Green and fresh.   Yes.  However, isn't the grass always greener on the other side?

How about SILVER?   Every cloud and its silver lining?

Now you have me thinking!  Thank you for your response!

Midenitesun,
Thank you for your input!  I suppose you are right about monochromatics being dramatic, flowing across the page!
