The Night Before Christmas

Last year on Christmas Eve when Santa visited the 'Stute,
- All loonies gathered 'round the tree and singing out of tune -
The Doc stepped out to see the deer and said, "Now ain't that cute?
Your Rudolph deer's not lined quite right and looks like a cartoon!

I best erase that error and refine that thoroughbred."
But during this perfection we saw Rudolph disappear!
We quickly robbed Doc of his toy before he hit the sled,
While Santa hollered: "Doctor Moose! You've got a new career!

You better get those hooves in motion and get tackled up,
For all I know I'm one deer short and you're his substitute!"
The Doc - in his bewilderment - ran circles in gallop,
He was beside himself with joy he'd fin'lly leave the 'Stute!

He started singing "Jingle Bells" and told us with a smile:
"I will be home for Christmas, so behave till my return!
In charge is Miss Behavin' - no not you, Justin Fantile -
I hope you all remember my shock therapy can burn!"

And off they were into the sky, one Moose and seven deer,
A sight some of you might have seen - don't say you didn't laugh!
They flew around the world with Ho-Ho-Ho and Christmas cheer;
The Doc - as pleased as Punch - felt part of Santa's daily staff.

"Umm Santa," muttered Doctor Moose, "You have a vacancy,
You're one deer short and Moose as substitute to compromise,
Would you consider Doctor Moose as future employee?
I really love this job - I'd make a great deer in disguise!"

A sound like Santa choked resounded from the sleigh behind;
"I'll think about it Doc and let you know at day's first light,
Right now we've got a job to do, so if you'd be so kind,
Remove your butt from chimney please, before your tail ignites!"

Meanwhile back at the 'Stute...

Since we all fear shock therapy, we had to set things straight,
No, not the jackets, but the missing Rudolph, ho-ho-ho!
We asked our brother Justin Thyme if he could please create,
A reindeer new by alter ego Michael Angelo.

"Well surely I will help," said Justin Thyme and worked all night,
And Tinkerbel used magic dust to give life to his brush,
But when his masterpiece was done we stared in "shocking" fright
At Rudolph's nose. "I'm sorry guys," said Justin Thyme and blushed.

He painted Rudolph's nose bright red, 'twas glowing in the dark,
Then Rudolph said, still wakening and lost in reverie,
"How can I ever thank you Sir, I love this guiding mark!
And Santa must admit this nose will save us batteries!"

"But we're afraid," the Clan cried out, "Doc blends us in a stew!
And once he starts blending us in, the 'Stute will surely end!"
"But you did not commit a crime by painting Rudolph Two!
To that I will attest and Doc will surely comprehend!"

Despite the words of Rudolph all the Justins went insane,
But Miss Behavin' was in charge and kindly looked away.
Then suddenly they heard the sound of Reindeer down the lane;
The tree lost all its needles - What would Doc and Santa say?

Everything comes together...

The Doc showed anger on his face when he observed the mess,
But Santa smiled from ear to ear when Rudolph reappeared;
"Well I'll be darned! A nose aglow! You're bound to find success,
Unless you'd like to light our way on Christmas Eve next year.

I must admit the Doc did great and even pulled a stunt,
By testing how afraid we'd be, he almost hit a ridge,
But never hit a chimney, 'though I had to ask quite blunt:
Please take a left real quick before we hit the Tower Bridge.

Well Doc, I'm mighty grateful for this gift from lunacy,
I trust you will reward them with some extra arsenic.
Although I'm sorry I no longer have a vacancy,
I hope I may rely on you when one of them gets sick?"

Now Christmas Eve is almost here and Doc searches the sky
And we all hope for Moose's sake a reindeer trips and falls.
We've seen him walking in his sleep and even heard him sigh:
"It was the night before... a Merry Christmas to you all!"

So folks, you better watch the firmament this Christmas Night,
'Cause you might see a spectacle - you won't believe your eyes!
The sleigh of Santa guided by a sparkling bright red light,
And next to Rudolph, right up front, da Moose in deer disguise!

Merry Christmas
Joyeux Noël
Fröliche Weinachten
Vrolijk Kerstfeest
Feliz Navidad
To all!

Justin,
I am honored, delighted, and Christmas excited, devoted, it's noted, the candles are lighted. Brought back from the past as a windows thrown sash, to appear, one more year,
as a moose, with panache!
My thanks, and a merry to all!
Doc
