SEDUCED, BY AN OCEAN

She had never seen you before,
deep, brooding,
tiny wavelets flow to your shore,
an ocean, constantly moving.

She walked bare-footed on your sand,
you put your moon to watch her.
On stirring air, your sirens' band
she looks into you, and in a murmer...

"Where do you come from, mighty sea,
where have you been before?
What in your travels did you see
before you found me on this shore?"

And you spoke. And she opened her mind to your spell.
Those smiling lips apart,
ear to whispers from sighing shell,
ready to follow her wayward heart.

"I come from the east and I come from the west
from lands far too many to count,
and I have seen people whose lives have been blessed,
from peasants, to kings on the mount.

"I am strong and all knowing and can offer you much
from riches to love and good marriage.
So if you are looking for riches and such
come ride in my watery carriage."

With hope in her heart and a spring in her step
she ran into your welcoming arms.
I called out too late, she went into your depth,
she succumbed to your treacherous charms.

Tiny wavelets now at ebb,
your conspiring moon has gone.
In her footsteps I sadly tread
Alone, I cannot remain alone...

Another first. I have been reading here for the last two weeks whenever I had a chance and I have responded to several entries but the number of wonderful poems coming through here is staggering. Today I plucked up the courage to offer one of my little writings. I hope I can fit in here.

Good heavens Greeneyes, thank you for that  wonderful welcome to such a nice place. And from one green eyes to another, thank you too for that very nice card.

I made quite a mess of my HTML, it receives it differently than from whence I came... *smile*, I will not make that mistake next time.

I am totally floored by the wonderful reception I have found here. As I explained in one of my emails earlier, I have been looking for a "poetry" home for some time and I like very much this warmth.

I saw a number of you had visited my new website which is still so much under construction. The link from there to my message boads is not working today as my host server went down last night with problems with their internet access. We do have a working link of sorts but it is unsatisfactory for posting. I have had some emails about this and will respond to each of you, thank you for asking of this.

A warning, (**friendly one**), most of my poems are what I call "story poems" because I like to tell little stories in them. I hope this will be okay All of which I write will be from my own life, and how it was touched and changed by those who came into it. I will try not to bore. Oh, and I stay away from politics entirely.

Thank you Passing Shadows, Blues Serenade, Greeneyes, Enchantress, Midnight Sun and Sunshine...you are all quite special ladies.

And thank you too Sadelite, Duncan and Aimster for your very kind words.

Because I have been asked, I have just made a post into Announcements regarding my message boards being down, sorry but they should be fine by tomorrow.

I was advised somewhere not to post too many poems here so will wait a day or two.

At 44 years old..I only just saw the ocean for the first time last year ... it is by far the most beautiful and powerful thing I have ever experienced. You write a part of me in this bittersweet beauty.
A wonderful poetic entrance.
Welcome to Poetry Land Tony...its so nice to have you here with us.

Thank you Patricia, Scorpio, Janet Marie, Earth Angel, Hope S and Nightshade, I really do appreciate your kind words and your welcome into your home here.

Janet I was touched when you told us you had never seen an ocean until last year. I have a poem for you soon. You see I was born way way down in the South Pacific Ocean and grew up with that ocean as my playground and tutor. I could not imagine being without my ocean and my forests.

It was also my larder, and when the tide went out my table was laid. The poem tells of a very young boy working hard to make enough mooney to take his new found love to the village dance. And he teaches her to dive for the lobster, hiding in their caves and to dig for the shellfish we called "pipis," (pronounced, pip-pees) and how to cook them right there on the sand.

I had a wonderful childhood and will think of it often. Hope I can share a little with you all.

Hello and thank you Hope S, Nightshade and KoKo, I appreciate your kind words... thought this poem had drifted away quietly.

Hope I have spent time in Australia but did not know you had pipis there too. I was talking of the islands of New Zealand. I guess you too have had many feasts on the beach.

Have a wonderful day all.

PS: and thank you too Sea, we must have double posted almost. Nice name

the lull of the ocean can foster your entire being, showing you things and talking to you in a way you've never before heard...this poem lulled me like the ocean does...drifting me off to a place of peace and supernatural harmony, with the music of nature lapping in each wave...rocking me to a tender loving place.

This was an exceptional read...welcome and looking forward to many others you might have to share and offer.  Good day to you sir..wishing you and yours a perfect day.
