Up in the attic she sits quietly,
hands resting flatly upon an empty lap,
waiting for something to happen,
anticipating the entry of one
who would see
she is
living breathing
heartbeating soul
filled with splendid songs,
passionate poetry
overflowing
the corners of blank space.

White satin days covered
by black silky nights
only render her image
more invisible.
She hides in the darkness
waiting
for eyes, ears and heart
that might see their way through
invisible steel doors
with padlocks that lock both ways.

The key is in
understanding
why the locks exist.

it is the key
yes,
in knowing why, and then taking it from there
very insightful words

A vividly painted vignet! For a moment, I actually felt as though I was that woman in the "attic".

'Tis sad but true, many of us can be our own jailors at various times in our lives.

You're always thinking, lady. Sometimes I just help you dredge up a hidden thought.
And I always appreciate your replies.

I read your words and visualize. A large heavy door with a skeleton key, you know the kind. Like in a castle and the maiden is locked away. She sits with a ray of light shining on her shadowed face. Maybe a pen in hand hoping that her knight will release her and her inner light will glow for all to see.
Good one.

Kacy....This is very good!!!!  I like the way you get the reader to THINK!!!
I often go through times when I don't want to let anyone in and I don't want to get out.  It's safer just to stay put.
I'm glad it doesn't last.....

Love this, Kacy...

Beautifully said, and offering a thought to ponder... very nicely done, my friend...

Kacy -- such a deep poem, and so good.  Hope the key is found!

Wow, sounds as though a roof-ripping toranado is in order. Dark can suffocate.

RS, LOL, that picture might have been me at one time, but recently? I blew that roof off and took decisive action to step out of that attic, never to return.
thanks to all for your time and feelings
