As shadows grow with setting sun,
A stillness falls across the land.
Wood cradle's rocked by loving hand,
When darkness falls and day is done.

When sun has set, gold dreams are spun,
And baby sleeps with angel band
Of voices sweet in choir grand,
When fall of night has thus begun.

~ As shadows grow with setting sun,
When darkness falls and day is done.

I love poems about the end of day and yours is very restful. I always enjoy your writing.  You might look at Longfellow's Day is Done and Phoebe Cary has almost a parody of it, it so close.

Hi Linda, so calm and soothing at the end of a long and hectic day.

Feels like a warm bubble bath and a hot towel to wrap up in.

I will treasure this to read again if need be.

Awesome piece!!! Im really amazed by this piece of poetry. It reminds of this song entitled "I Am The Wooden Doors", and this piece fits perfectly along with the song (which I just happen to be listening to at the moment). BRAVO!

(smiles) Oh Linda, this is sooooooo gorgeous, sweet friend, nothing brings a smile to my face like envisioning a child sleeping peacefully under the stars! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, you truly are the guardian angel of the children, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Marti ~

Oh, my sweet Twisted Sister, I feel like tucking you in bed and giving you a nice hot cup of honey-sweetened, vanilla-flavored milk. You need to be pampered ater your hectic day. ~ That's what friends are for!

Thank you for that especially lovely reply and for wanting to save my poem!

Noah ~

"nothing brings a smile to my face like envisioning a child sleeping peacefully..."

~ Oh, I totally concur. I never tired of watching over my two incredibly beautiful and angelic daughters whilst they slept.

~ May a choir of angels sing you to sleep each night...
