To what do I compare, the happiness I hold in there?
Is it to the birds that sing and beauty everywhere?
Or to a day of winter that might chill you to the bone?
Or to the soul who wanders wide to find itself alone?
--------------------------------------------------

I might be a gardener, who searches far and wide
To find a flower of appeal to grow right by my side
To capture just some beauty, that once I could not see
To smell the air of springtime’s bloom, where everything is free

To what do I compare in life that I would wish to live
The happiness I might perceive or what is left to give
To what do I compare in there, a penny if I knew
For often answers do not come and then there are so few
---------------------------------------------------

You can open up the tap of life, but sometimes it won’t flow
Nurture soil and garden well, but some things will not grow
Until again you’re weeding out what’s left your beauties eye
To seed again your garden’s crop in hope it will not die
---------------------------------------------------

I think we often search for more than what is ours to find
And often we compare in life what others left behind
So maybe I’ll consider and tell myself to just
Fulfil my happiness inside with good friends I can trust

!!!Thank you all for the happiness you give!!!

Hello Rick

This one reached deep inside my heart and was so very beautiful.  You are a master of the quill and this would have to be one of my favourite pieces of yours.

"Happiness is something
that comes into our lives
through doors we don't even
remember leaving open"

Take care my friend

Wow, Very wonderful job! Like everyone else has said, I loved the way you presented this. It really reached down inside me. I love this poem.

Happiness is something to treasure,
It is not something to measure,
Take it when you get it,
And never let it go.

the mainstay is hope and belief in oneself and the purpose for all things which greatness doth bring....dear Rick, this is a virtue of brilliance which devours one's heart into the credibility of words played by a master's hand...you are indeed a maestro.  Thank you, thank you a thousand times for this excellence....God is surely smiling.
