What if you’d not said those words
That broke my world in two
What if you’d had open eyes
You’d seen what words could do
What if time could reach back
To that painful crushing day
What if all the damage done
Would simply go away?

What if I could just forget
Let anger leave my heart
What if I could just erase
The sickening painful part
What if I could just reach out
And open up the door
What if we weren’t strangers anymore?

What if time can really heal
And love can self-renew
What if sadness lessens when
A heart commands it to
What if just the two of us
Can still take wing and fly
What if we fall back in love
And give it one more try?

Life is what you make it
Don't let it make you...

Hi SharaRose, and thank you!  None of us ever really have the answers, they just happen as we live our moments...usually when you least expect it, eh?  Enjoyed seeing you here today...~S~

(smiles) Love is always worth fighting for they say and I believe if ones heart feels a second chance is in order then, by golly, it should be tried! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sunnyone, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I am a huge fan of rhyme, especially rhyme with some depth.  It thrills my heart to find a poem that has both.  I offer no criticism for there is nothing to be critical of, in this piece.  Touching and eloquent - a great read.

Hi passing shadows, and thank you! No, it doesn't always work that way, and sometimes it seems life is simply one big question, and that's the crux of this write!! ~S~

Hi Noah, and thank you!  Yes, I'm with you, in that I believe we are all worthy of 2nd chances, if they arise...~S~

Hi Snow, and thank you! Sometimes we have to ask those questions from our hearts...~S~

what if he is wondering
the very same what ifs?

well, Sunny gal, if it was really good the first time, its probably worth a second chance, if you can both get past that one big hurt

Sunnyone, yes it's worth the fight, to follow your heart because you'll be all the better for it.

Oh Gosh, the "what if's" of life so often we ponder...
Your poem touches my heartSweetie but me thinx you know that already...
I sometimes wander off into the "what if thinking mode" but suddenly my thoughts are jolted into the "what is", and for me that jolt is what keeps me on track going forward...

Sometimes, we never know the answers... or find ones we don't want... but we have to try, take that chance... We can't go back, but if we're lucky, we can go on. *S*

Excellent write!

I thought about those "what if's" once..and I never found the answer... I guess the problem is in the need to ask.

sunnyone,
I think there are more whatifs in the world than clouds in a trillion zillion skies!  I enjoyed your questions, I think i may have asked them myself at one time...
   Wishing you fine holidays.

Sonny

Yes there are alot of "what ifs" but hang on and give it all you have from within.  You can do it and as long as it comes from your heart, you will succeed.
