vermilion dreams hibernate the sun
evening shades pale, then ruminate
convoluting the intricacies of my mind
excepting the harbingers of thought.

night’s augury of stifled silence
bleeds a basin of broken memories
listless, lost, lacking life
blocking inspiration, suffering creativity

leaving me in reverie alone in pensive thought
desperately seeking expressions for my dreams
ineffable, unutterable, inexpressible
dawn o’erflows its banks and I can scribe again.

I've been out of college too long...had to run to the dictionary...

exquisite writing!

passing shadows,

too funny.   Big words are to eloquence what gilding is to a lily.  Unnecessary and unappreciated.

Thanks for taking time to read and comment.

It is the content of the words and how they act in the play of the poem that is important...some fine theatre here, Stevenr
I know the feeling expressed in the poem..

Yes, I must agree with Ice's reply on this poem.  And I have known this feeling as well.  Yet, lately I have been so overwhelmed with the day that the night produces no thoughts...except the thought of sleep.  With a kiddo who has been ill and another who has been having nightmares, sleep escapes me as well.

That's my story and I am sticking to it!  LOL

I enjoyed the read this morning.

"dawn o’erflows its banks and I can scribe again."

~ and as Martha Stewart says, "...and that's a good thing!"

To all, thank you for the kind comments.  I love words.  I love those who sculpt them well.  That is why I love this forum.  It is like gestalt therapy for the mind.
