Reading By Street Light

Street lights fan across the yard wall, almost level,
the air bright, ground still drenched in shadow.
With care I can lean down in my cold deck chair,
invisible, and still read this book.
It seems to float alone, bright.

Bookglow rains down on my face.

reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel,

Ed....I can picture you doing this and it's peaceful to watch the quiet of it, punctuated only by turn of page.  Hugs to you!

Like Martie, I pictured you doing this, too...
Very quietly, under the streetlight, sitting.

no street lights here where I live, but the power was out a few hours both the last two nights and I read and wrote by the flicker of a candle as I listened to the wind and rain outside...

I like this. I can see the chair, the book with hardly any light, and the determination to read.

Ratleader,
I was just ready to hit the sack and thought I needed one last read, so....I thought I'd check the reservoir on the previous page, and behold, there I found this beauty!   How difficult it must have been to paint that image in so few lines!  You did an incredible job shedding the light on this one!

You know...once, when in LA visiting, the street glow seemed SO bright, that reading by it was the most logical thing to do, so I did.  Thank you for bringing back that memory....

Y'know...this has a very haunting quality - and I am lost in the fog with only the streetlight to show me home again...

had to have another read.

So sue me!

I like this picture of you... creating quiet moments made just for enjoyment... feeding the soul and imagination away from the hurry and scurry. *S*

And you share it with us in a way that brings peaceful pause to the reader... it's lovely! *S*

Ratleader,
Just had to check this older one out again.  You so masterfully created a setting and mood in this short one.  Just had to see it again and try to figure out how you did it.  So   BUMP!
  Take care.
