When my soul is ripped,
torn open
splayed apart,
with ragged seams caught
hard upon the jagged edges
of an unexpected memory,
the kind I try believing
must be someone else's history,
until my mind is choking
and I can no more deny
the truth of my existence,
I become impatient
with the tedium
and pace
of my mortality
"and it ain't nobody's business
but my own."

It's not, unless you let it be, and the pieces of that puzzle that were chucked into the wrong box will always be there...the trick, if there is one, is to make the picture anyway.
