Years ago in the blur of my life,
I fought and struggled to be a mother and wife.
Surviving each horrid day only to meet another,
Each hour that passed, feeling so smothered.
For try as I might, and no matter how hard,
The doors to my heart were eternally barred.
Each effort I made to open and love,
Was as escaped to me as the flight of the dove.
For so long I was told that the faults were all mine,
I ceased searching for love of any true kind.
I convinced myself that it just wasn't there,
And in time in my heart I ceased to care.
For why should I try to make love so true,
When it was answered with pain, whatever I'd do.
Trying became an effort that I just couldn't bear,
The sorrow was never-ending, it always was there.
Then just as my heart couldn't take any more,
My heart grew wings and it began to soar.
I found you my love, and you gave me dreams,
Dreams which became reality, forever it seems.
The bars on my heart were melted away,
I could love stronger and deeper each day.
Just loving you was such a carefree thing,
And six months later you gave me the ring.
Happiness was mine for the first time ever,
We became closer each day that we shared together.
You had given me the love I yearned for so much,
I felt it within you with each gentle touch.
And for now that I have the love felt from you,
I know my life's complete in whatever I do.
I'll love you always, forever and a day,
I know in my heart that together we'll stay.
These feelings we have were sent from above,
A true never-ending effortless love.

Renae, I think that I may have told you before,
but this sounds just like some of my poems that I
write to my Gary. I'm glad to see that you found
the same kind of love that I found. Isn't it great?
