The Hills of Brea

The meadow of yellow and green spring eyes
a distance and hills to climb like soft enchant
they curve do you see maybe all the way to me
or the arms of the sea call loudly
crashing into the bones of years
smoothing the glass until it is a talisman
that little girls pick up and hold
and you can hear with ear pressed against
the bench that time places on the path

Parks and fences and a cow or two drift by
and there is always a road into or away
and some sweet piece of earth to stay meaning
with a feather or flower to capture time spent
with a season going quickly to summer
spring spent sipped so slowly that one day

when the brown hills return will they
have that certain smile that remembers
the way the mustard filled the pass
and the green grass looked like a place
where you could lay down and finally sleep
with the dream that springtime brings

The water rocks quietly in the fold
certain rain will again drown the crease
that moves with grace in only one direction
to the sea like time in a basket turning gone
emptying me into the depth of you

Oh my goodness, Martie.....how I wish I could write like this. You have me sitting here with my mouth open in awe, dear lady. Such beauty is within your words. I'm keeping this, too, so I can read it over and over again!!
Hugs to you, dear lady

Martie, you've transported me back to Brea with this, but way, way beyond what I recall of the reality of it as a place on Earth. You always manage to put a bit of this earth in higher realm.
thank you for this write, which will gracefully rest in library

(smiles) God Bless You, sweet friend, this took me right to the emerald hills where fairies are always having tea parties with nymphs and the rainbows bounce, yay! (kiss on cheek) Your poetry is always magical to me, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

"emptying me into the depth of you"

~ that is as close as two people can be. The whole poem spoke to my Irish soul, but this line was the clincher.

Another graceful write from a poetess full of grace.

Martie, it is not usual that I miss any of your pieces of art, but this one slipped through my fingers, until an angel showed me the way, back, to the Brea...

I know the area very well...*smiling*
