Hold on
This listening has me drenched
Hold on to my skin
It weeps words with no sound

I am yellow feathers falling like spring rain
A drift of soft melancholy
Fading into lethargy’s drain
Down down

Close your eyes
Come into this small place of green with me
And listen to minutes stop
Let me gather something from another midnight
And spread it out like seeds

I hear how fragile this song
It whispers against your skin
And lets all the fine hairs hear
How breath boggles in cages
Longing for the air of places joy born

You paint a curve of my line
Into some memory that lost me in my youth
And the softness is still there
I see it in your eyes as they measure
The distance from the night to some morning
Where waking is sweet

Hold on
Torn pieces fall and rebuild a temple
Where believing is

Here in this stopped minute
I can see through the blur
Of all things bumping into my grasp
And for what it’s worth
I understand

But only with my shoes off

Hi Martie,

this is so lush and lovely! I always love your descriptive poems!

I hope you weren't affected by the fires a while back. I haven't been to San Diego since it happened, been afraid to go!

Martie
Excellent poetry stirs something deep in my spirit.....this poem moved me here:

"Let me gather something from another midnight
And spread it out like seeds"
and here:

"Here in this stopped minute
I can see through the blur
Of all things bumping into my grasp"

Thank you for stirring it...... :-)

It does seem to be spring in your world Martie.  Even warmed me up a bit.

I cannot believe how much like
a gentle cruise your poetry
can be...but now I know, first hand.

I get just as much a delight
from reading your poetry
as any vacation imaginable.

Ergo...

I vacation every time I read you.
