the day has faded
to a dark late color
and these hours
between late p.m.
and daylight a.m.
color an insomniac's world
with visions
too winterlike in their touch.
Despite the sting
there is something
about the slap
of an undreaming wind
that feels sweet
and touches a place
where alive
is a reminder
even if we don't always look forward to it.
there is a highway of rage
that lurks beneath
the calm of daytime exterior
and it winds
and pulls thoughts to paths
with the seduction
of silken red ribbons
binding a lover's wrists.
the touch feels nice
but it empowers panic
when it smothers the light.
this late a.m. color
that looks interesting on skin
makes eyes look hollow
and somewhat haunted..
makes minds chase shadows
and dreams
starve beneath the weight of sleeplessness.

All of my impurities are right here on my sleeve. This is Me"---Faith Hill

You don't think you are writing well?  What do you call this then?  I, myself, think this is superb stuff right here!

I'm not going to tell you again that you need more sleep. . . when you start seeing those little pink elephants, then, you know you've been up too long. . .

besides, I'm tired of finding your words way back here. . . they need to be closer to the front, where I can find them. . .

I am tired . . .

I'm up that late sometimes too....or early.

This is good writing, Temptress.

Great write.  Especially liked the following:

"where alive
is a reminder
even if we don't always look forward to it. "

Nicely written.

Sleep is one of those things that just keeps escaping me. It can be rough, but the world is so much cooler at night.
