This Gent, This Most Humble, Gentle Man

There he stood a stately man
His step pretty spry
His mission to bring the people care
Insincere ones need not, to him, apply

He, a man of stature, but not vainly proud
His hands never for any reason used to bring harm
His speech uplifting all, a pillar, most stellar one around
Everywhere he went he always drew a crowd

Gentle, and kind, a storyteller, a true man of cheer
Giving joy wherever he went, of him, none did fear
Not an idle man, his time well spent.
This lovely, this gentle, this kind, uplifting stellar gent.

This gent is you my dear man, the one given to me
The one so many years ago given to me by God's plan
My dear husband, how could I have ever wanted to set you free?
This humble gent, this most gentle man!

These are the things I see in you, all of these I carry with pride along with your name.
In my eyes you are this gent
you love with no disguise.
You love me with no shame!

Dedicated to my dear husband. A kind, dear, and gentle, humble man that has stood by me with love with no need for disguise. I only wish I could live enough lifetimes to give all he deserves. Blessed I am!

Wouldn't we all like to have this kind of love and respect shown for us by the lady in our lives. Nice writing..

This is lovely...Sylvia Plath wrote her Ode To Ted...I think it is wonderful to write a poem of love to a spouse.

Well done, Shara

Thank you to all of you...

Loverlost--In my dedication it says Blessed I am, now I am going to work toward him being the same.

Sparticus-- I appreciate this. I will have to see if I can find this author, and look for her poem. You say it is about her spouse and that means I will probably relate very well with her words. Thanks so much for bringing her to my attention.

Eric--One very deserving of so much more. I will work lifetimes to make him proud.

God Bless, and thanks again,
Terri~
