It is a cold wintry day in December.
Frigid frost on the ground speaks tomes
of lost loves and hates,
never buried, it seems,
far enough beneath our footsteps
that we can avoid stumbling,
fumbling in the dark over the same bones
that have lain before us since antiquity.
It seems we are doomed
to forevermore blunder
through barren unforgiving wastelands,
acting as if we had some sense of direction,
some pre-determined, pre-ordained pathway
to righteousness and glory,
a Valhalla reserved for those
who bear shiny heavy crosses
even when there was never proof
anyone needed to bear
a moment’s witness.
And who are we to say
what is God’s way,
or if indeed there is a God?
Not for a moment do I choose to stand or sit
in judgement of your chosen
(or perhaps predestined)pathway.
No, I would not venture that far
into the realm of Ego's absurdity.
Out of respect, leave me to stroll within
my own version of verdant pastures,
swim in my own rivers of life's meaning,
or crawl as a scorpion
upon the driest desolute Death Valley
if I that is where I choose to wander.
Please, wonder not what my goal may be,
or where my personal hell may lie,
for it is only for my self
and my private concept of the ultimate spirit
that the journey has any validity.
Each soul must ultimately crawl, walk, or run
within his own unique footsteps.
You cannot walk in mine,
and I cannot run your pathway
without falling from my own.
Yet many times we are able to run parallel,
sometime even overlap on a point or two,
maybe even merge in a rare moment of unity.
Those moments are the foundation of
the Unity of all living creatures
that I believe shall one day merge
into the
ONE.

AMEN!!!! This is the way it should be. We all have to find our way to the truth in our own journey. This is one of many reasons why I love poetry..it speaks from the innermost depths of who and what we are as humans. On some level, or another we are all alike, yet not. Mysteries only because we make them that.
Love,
Terri~

Yo Kacy...this was just what I needed. Was flipping around the tv when I ran across Pat Robertson on CBN.Now he's professing to be the mouthpiece for the Christian God,getting all worked up screeming about how the world is involved in this great spiritual war and how Gods people must stop the Arab/Islam nation from spreading there lies and destuctive beliefes and all made right again through there destruction.Well old Pats a sure bet when it comes to getting me fired up so I ran for my tablet figuring I'd read a few writes then scribble one of my own.So glad you posted your verse here, sure helped  me to put things back in a better perspective and probaly saved a few readers the the nesessity of reading another radical on a soap box.Reminds me of Christ himself saying give unto Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser and give unto God what belongs to him.A thought provocing write here and a fine reminder that my life flows much smoother when I simply live and let live. Some fine writing you've done here.I enjoyed.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

Sincere thanks to each of you.
Namaste.
I really do appreciate you taking time to read and reply, to this and any other writes I might post.
Dang, but I do love this site, for even when we disagree almost all the members do so with respect and tolerance. The rare birds that don't usually fly away. LOL

I wanted to read some of your poetry as you're always kind enough to comment on mine. I must say, you have a talent for expression and a powerful voice. You do not waver in your intent and your images are clear and distinct. Very good poem.

Sight is an always awful beginning

those rare moments that we truly touch sleeves, come far and few between it seems at times, but they are magical when they do come

Kacy, I love the way that you stand for what you believe. And, yes, I think that the key to peace in the world is exactly what you said in your reply......

"for even when we disagree almost all the members do so with respect and tolerance"

If only the people in the world as a whole would only do this, and not try to push their beliefs and ideals on others.

Again, thank you for being you, Kacy. You have taught me some things through your writings.
Hugs
Ethel
