In the Isles you could unearth precious stones
sit at sidewalk cafes and eat scrumptious scones
move in and out bazaars with ideas on life
n'er dull moment when it comes to strife...

Or get original thought on paper..I mean the net
to turn boredom into interest, or to be so set
learn from a rapacious world, it passes you by
learn a language or two and off you fly...

to another dimension, a city o'er village
ruin one rebuild another, pity the pillage,
if new lines of ol'foundations be set in stone again
when served at cafe tables, will it be the same menu then?...

To another star, far as modern optics provide
a spacecraft passes to announce earthly good tides
a message of a human world will be their's to see
yet back home exploiters still won't let others be.

Hey Passing..

always a good idea to look at yourself from without

Jason..

so true, and it reflects in day to day routine...where shallow talk is eliminated
whereever and whenever.

You have such a wonderful ability to open the minds of your readers...to the cosmos.
The happy and sad of all we achieve is far less important than our willingness to look beyond ourselves.  Always enjoy your works Martin. TD

ecrivan, sir --- I just came across this one after posting "Archives"  -- kind of a similar sort of theme in a way.  I liked this one very much and really enjoy your writing -- it is really very melodic.   BEEEwell!

Ilana,

It does the reader well that another poet such as yourself take up the task of writing about something pertinent..not that writing love poems is impertinent, they do well to sooth the spirit and exteriorize a lot of our internal sadnesses we would otherwise ignore. I'm also saying it takes an appreciation and love for a better life, to think out these poems rather than just refer only to matters of the heart.Actually being thoughtful of where humanity is going, and I am not always optimistic there, should also be a matter of the heart.
Like Kathleen points out much of our preoccupation lies in seeking pleasure in this world without any thought of who succeeds in our shoes. Now given that our lives are so minor with respect to a potentially promising tommorrow, more thought and creativity should be spent on getting people aware of what can happen if we can longer contain the disharmony that is coming out of the woodwork. I address these issues and do not want to be alone doing that. This is what has been a theme of many of posts so far; yet I do write and enjoy the occasional "love" poem myself.
