Thanksgiving Memories

Chocolate gravy with home-made biscuits began our holiday
We worshipped at the altar of her oven’s preparation
Incense of the wafted off’rings on Thanksgiving Day
Supernal encounters conjure divine inspiration

As to Elysian Fields of cuisine we’d delightfully flee
Roasted turkey, bathed in butter, spices such sweet scents,
Aromas carried on the breezes of gentle destiny
For her children’s vivid memories of holiday events

Stuffing, potatoes, and candied yams abound
Green beans and all the trimmings piled high on ev’ry plate
Dinner rolls of yeast aplenty for all congregants around
The feast of thanks for giving thanks as we await

The debut of banana pudding just like Grandma made
Vanilla, not banana, no graham crackers please
Vanilla wafers, o’er ripened ‘nanners laid
Across the top with care and cautious ease

After feasting, not just eating, we’d feel warm as Mother’s house
Always laughing, not realizing, that simply simple things
Were the bond that future memories would arouse
Of holidays and pleasantries that only adoration brings.

Well, my friend, quite a lovely Thanksgiving memory...a feast for my eyes!  I dare not read this one to my family after being subjected to my meager Turkey Day offering.  LOL  But at least I didn't burn anything...I take that back...I did burn my hand.

Hope you are having a wonderful day!
