Silence of the Yams

Tis hardly worth mentioning
but still the words must be said
Awake I lay til crack of dawn
then I sat up in bed

I forgot to make the yams
to accompany our family feast
the can still sits upon the shelf
between green beans and yeast

The marshmallow adornment
was used for krispie squares
I really do apologize
if anyone still cares.

No one said a word to me
that something was awry
and suddenly in dark of night
I knew the reason why

Perhaps no one really liked
the yams I prepare each year
Maybe they always ate them
out of love or out of fear

Next year I’ll test my theory
amid Thanksgiving plans
Then I will know for sure if
there’s silence of the yams.

Smiles, fun read.  But with me its the cranberry sauce, and if we don't have it we wind up with whine with our dinner.

(giggles in delight) I've never been a real yam fan either, I love marshmallows in Rice Krispie treats too with chocolate chips and macadamia nuts, yay! (kiss on cheek) Hehehe, there will be another use for the yams, God Bless You, this is a delightful holiday gem, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

LOL,
I remember howling
last year at this write;
am giggling again tonight
from your yammy delight.

Sharon, this is so cute. It really is true, though, that we sometimes try to eat things the others prepare just because we don't want to hurt their feelings. LOL It's hard sometmies, isn't it?

Hope you had a good day yesterday.
Hugs
