It's Another Day
November 24, 2003
Copyright 2003 Doug Pretorius

It's another day
to carry out under my arm
I think I forgot which way
I was going to go

A midnight breeze
brushes by my face
like silken panties
diamonds and lace

I think I lied about
something once or twice
I can't remember if it was important
or just to be nice

Feeling kind of angry
about the friends I left behind
it's a twist of fate
that's stuck in my mind

The sun goes down again
and I think I'm finally alone
but wouldn't you know it
there goes to phone

It's another day
to help those fallen behind
a strange kind of saying
that no one believes

It was just like this
the day I was supposedly born
I remember the bright lights
and the doctor's face, I've sworn

It's another day
to carry off as our own

It's another day
to feel so alone
amongst a sea of faces
and subtle child embraces

It's another day
to sweep under the rug
to tear off on a tangent
and become completely unplugged

It's another day
to remember who you are
to listen to the one above
to carry on in freedom
and sing about love

Welcome back! or is it my imagination, you've been away from Pips for quite a while?
Enjoyed this look at the day, especially, that ending. Yes, Doug, any day is a good day to sing about love.

Definitely not your imagination. I've been without writing inspiration for many months, but things are beginning to flow again. Thanks for noticing!

I LIKE this so much!  I like the progressive steps of a process, many of which I've experienced.  Everytime I read it, I see myself. Thank you very much for sharing the write. ~K~

after re-reading, I think this is my fave:
"It's another day
to carry out under my arm
I think I forgot which way
I was going to go"

going to be looking for more of your "stuff"...~K~
