Have a Norman Rockwell Day

Imagine that you could make a living,
painting a day of Thanksgiving,
bringing to life in colored content
how Americana lives were spent.

Look again into the treasured
lives on which time was measured
see how the painter exposed their souls,
from the very young, to the very old.

What made Rockwell’s gift worth while?
This knack to make his subjects smile,
a grin, a cheer, a laugh, no sneers,
within their hearts you saw no fear.

So look ‘round your laden table today,
as you are granted the freedom to pray;
give some thanks that you can say,
“Lord, let this be a Norman Rockwell Day.”

This poem is one of my favorites, I think, to share during this particular holiday - as I remember Kit getting excited when I posted it the first time, as she shares an affinity for Norman Rockwell as I do.

His blessings on all of you.  Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Norman Rockwell has got to be my favorite painter, (just beside Thomas Kinkade) he painted such tenderness... and I think you displayed that well here beautiful write.
May God bless you also on this thanksgiving and may it be of tenderness, and thanks...

Always, Alyssa

...I am a girl of tears.

Your words invoke the warmth and tenderness of his paintings...and the very essence of the holiday. Thanks.

And somehow it was -- all the good stuff!

I like this sentiment, and the way you say it...something we all think, but only Sunshine thought to say like this.

Sunshine,
Thanks so much for sharing this.  Yes, Norman Rockwell did have a way of projecting
the spirit of those he painted-incredible artist.   I loved your poem.
