My Soul

My soul feels thin-
Thins as a wet piece of paper
Floating in a lake in California.
Being whisked up by the wind,
Carried over and through the currents,

And dropped off in New York,
To be stepped on.  Imprinted on
By the million people walking above.
          This love shall prove
To be the strongest if my soul

Can survive.

"So what befalls the flawless?
Look what I've built, it shines so beautifully now watch as it destroys me."

I have been to both of those places and I wouldn't want to be soaked or stepped on in either one of them.

Your soul may feel thin, but your poem feels deep.
