The following poem was written as a tribute to a close friend who recently passed away...to George...

Farewell to a Friend

I bid farewell to a friend today,

And thought that I should flee

Fore’er forlorn for time’s decay

As when the seasons cease to be.

From death to life and back again

Far from this earthly shore,

The timeless passage doth refrain

To comfort those no more,

Who by her side are surely sworn

To seek the beauty of that day

E’er death should sullenly slip away

And those who comfort not

In time’s swift passage may

Comfort those who do not know

Death may come and death may go.

Be still, O soul, farewell is not good-bye,

For hope takes wing—-it shall not die.

i'm not normally one for poems that rhyme... but this has the feel of timeless poetry  .. as well as the message being close to the heart... just brought it all together for me..
i'm sorry for the reason you wrote, but i do feel lucky for having been able to read it.
