The snow breezes thru
like a hit and run lover
once tasted on your lips,
becoming then, the longed for kiss,
it pours white rice on wedding days,
graceful butterflies, and painters dreams,
bringing next day leftover mashed potato mountains
of dirty carfumes and yellow dog pee,

I had my tonsils out in a snowstorm
and my first birthday party, still on super 8
where i can relive the dead wearing party hats,
any my daughter arrived in a november blizzard,
my best friend's father's heart closed shut,
bang, like an oven door, shoveling snow,
and this 8 year old freckledfaced girl lived thru many moons,
before she undertstood the correlation
between heart attacks and shovels,

I word a plaid red coat and blue mittens
and  begged for pink galloshes
and played for hours and never felt
myself drip into liquid and become a giant puddle
under the returning golden stream of sun,
and drank hot chocolate way before
milk and sun became poison,

I threw my coat onto the newly baptized
whiteness of the bare wintery trees
and never thought about things
like hearts of trees that cry
when they've been forsaken by their summer foliage,
and the thought that life could hurt
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a turn about from this called A Winter Wedding where Spring and Winter come together for a moment.  Perhaps you'd enjoy reading it.  It'd be easiest to pull it up on the smart search probably.  (No one but my sister commented on it, and it was one of my prettier pieces.)

I really like the way you created mood with the rice and mashed potatoes.  This was a very creative write!  I enjoyed it!

I loved this Michele....the way you let me see
the other side of pretty snow-whilte Christmases.
I guess everything pretty has an ugly side, too.
Hugs to you, sweet Lady
