At watching time, dim lit by dawn
That shows a being, first at still
Then moving
Slow....it fills
The mirrors of a killers eyes...
*
Since Adam fell
And Eve was banned,
Which suffered also
Lions, lambs, and all
Who stayed, by faith
Submissive to Gods laws
That made
The kingdom one of peace:
Though innocent, they slid
(With man) from grace,
Forever to display
The sinful use
Of hidden claws and teeth
On flesh, and fleece.
*
No anger shown,
Though blood drips here
Nor hate of life in small degree:
An actor on a tragic stage,
I sense in forest wings
A cue sent down, and see
Words writ in stone
Beyond the gardens gate;
Reminding that a penance
Still remains unprayed
By Bear and Lion,
Eagle,Wolf,
And me.
*
end
