A Haiku of Lil Boy Blue

“Ya did it again, Lil Boy,
Ya fell asleep on watch.
The cows are out,
and we’ve got to chase!
Get on yawr boots and mawrch!”

          “Honest, honestly, Maw,
           I’ve been keepin’ watch!
           In the haiku I saw
           with my left eye right open,
           the cows aren’t in the corn--

                                 Cattle scattering
                       among the green brown meadow
                             grazing last fresh grass.”
