I’ve got a bee in my bonnet,
It’s been buzzing there a while.
I've even tried to ignore it,
In some state of denial.

No one likes a 'know-it-all',
A grandstander is a pain.
They have to have the limelight,
Time, and time again!

Some people have a problem
With one bent in a constant bow.
They shut out those people who
Tend to always tell them how!

So subtle these people try to be,
To get things done their way.
Do they really think
We were all born yesterday?

Life is all about learning,
Making your own mistake.
Who needs someone directing,
Every move you go to make?

Sure, it stems from insecurity
But come on folks, get a grip ~
Being loved for who you are
Is really the ultimate trip.

When next you go to help out,
Perhaps ask if they want it first,
Maybe you’re giving a person water,
Who doesn’t even have a thirst?

We all know one I am sure.

"A bee in your bonnet"
Meaning: Preoccupied or obsessed with an idea.
Origin:Thought to have come from Robert Herrick's poem,
'Mad Maid's Song', 1648.

Try to make time to listen to
someone when they speak from their heart.

Carpe' Diem

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, I know this feeling ever too well, sweet friend, then again we all must be with the bids and bees every once in a while and suck the marrow from the flowers of inspiration and beauty! (kiss onn cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, I just love your wonderful poetic thoughts, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

I had a dream last night
you came to me on silver wings of light
I flew away with you in painted sky
Was it real
Is it what you see, touch or feel

Thank you all for laughing at or with me, sometimes it does me good.  Wish this had stemmed from a place of laughter, and not from being "buzzed."
And on that note, I will just go buzz off!

Yepper I have met that "know it all". When I hear people like that I turn and run the other way. Sometimes I think; "Isn't it just WONDERFULLLLL........ that they know so much?"
Now about that little ole bee in your bonnet, take you hat off so he/she won't sting.LOL
See Ya

ROFL... That last verse is classic! *S* I'm sorry this was inspired by pain for it's not fun being stung... but you certainly wrote wisdom from your experience! *S*

helllooooo, Mysteria,
I just strolled down the alley and found your poem, cute and it tells a lot!  It's definitely a keeper!  I thought you might be interested in the evolution of the phrase. Here goes: The 16th century orginally was "to have a head full of bees."   In Robert Herrick's "Mad Maid's Song," he changed it to "a bee in one's bonnet".
Now aren't ya glad that you've got the bee in your bonnet and not buzzin" inside your head!      Your poem was incredible.
