Do I dare think myself worse than I really am?
Thoughts, once unfiltered, spill out
round my feet, like litter.
I should wet them with tears,
but they are dry.
I would make sense of it all,
but alas, I am no great philosopher.
I tell you the truth:
you have inspired me in spite of myself,
and all I bring to you is a careless intoxication.
I would say it different -
use softer words,
but your heart is above this betrayal.
Please,
forgive me much,
allow me this...
