They say life starts at forty,
live it up without a care.
But in cruel reality
its all downhill from there.

You know you're getting older
and the time is marching on.
It doesn't seem long ago
that your life had just begun.

If you're lucky, they'll find you
a nice, sunny spot to sit
in a comfy rocking chair.
Maybe you could nap a bit.

If you're lucky, they'll remember
to bring you in at night
just like the household moggie
as long as you don't fuss and fight.

If you're even luckier
they'll wipe the dribble away
that runs slowly down your chin
for most part of the day.

So when it seems the world don't care,
don't forget, it could be worse.
Instead of sitting in that rocking chair
you could be in a hearse.

Hello Dee

It's so nice to see your smiling face again and to read your words which spoke volumes to me.  I turned 40 in February and I could relate very well and enjoyed your sense of humour.  As they say "You're only as old as you feel".

Take care......Sue

Sue, its good to be back home. I have missed reading the poetry and the interaction.

BTW, I prefer "You're only as old as the one you feel".

Don't worry, I'll make sure someone brings you in... at least I'll try to remember to remind someone...
