Epigrams

1.

To this humanistic need called ardor my emotions have been wed!
Albeit science has unveiled the chemical reaction of the brain,
Down a serpentine avenue to giddiness I by decision will tread,
For the heart of an admirer observes not the rose-colored rain.
Let me be convinced of the deception just for one singular day.
As if a neophyte of the impracticable I waltz towards the fray.

2.

Time heals not a broken heart: it only measures exactly sorrow,
Laughter is hard to fake when awaiting the mending of tomorrow.

3.

Here beneath the cold, dank, earth, lies only an emptied shell,
A repast of abhorrence upon which decadence will luncheon well,
Darkness no longer seduces the hand that would wield the knife,
The Grim Reaper has put to rest the soul that knew only strife.

4.

Attending to their appeal for help I feign an ounce of charity,
The words, "Be gone wretched imps," are upon the tip of tongue,
I care not about their creator, which they behold with clarity,
Immediately purchase the periodicals; the anthem has been sung.
Top of the ninth, bases loaded, to a deity I know not, I plead,
The leaflets lay forgotten: this spectator has no time to read.

5.

To capture the prominence which has not yet been wholly earned,
The avant-garde promise which the tougher poets have discerned,
We must take quill in hand and commit to the pages of the book,
Unbroken wisdom, that will continue, after the incidental look.

6.

This monster that manipulates me in the range of vision of all,
This tenderness, this hankering, this ruthless engrossed thing,
That enshrouds me beneath its measure as the final leaves fall,
Will gormandize, will disavow, and will depart slyly by spring.
Excruciating is the press of lips that's as cold as fresh snow,
Although it's feasible I'll love once more I must refuse to go.

7. Death Notice

A voice murmurs quietly in my ear, the words it speaks are sad,
Ten seconds ago your heart ceased beating. You are dead my lad.

8.

The redwing strakes a band of sanguine athwart the green grove,
An unlit pool holds his crossing as if a veiled treasure-trove.

9.

Life is an unrelenting, tiresome, invariable, rampart of noise,
A clamor that hurts the ears, a piercing that benumbs the mind,
In this superficial reality it's hard to remain calm or poised,
The road to Shangri-La this dissatisfied traveler can not find.
All my hopes are illusions for my own destinies out of control,
Through this illusion of friendship I've been damned to stroll.

10.

Pampered beloved indeed in the moment of our introductory kiss,
When sighed the straightened buds of our passions into flowers,
I knew with an unfailing conviction that it would come to this,
Though I admit I knew neither the inevitable day, nor the hour.
Of foul weather I am insightful, for I know when there's frost,
The half-grown flowers we cultivated, by daybreak will be lost.

11. Modernistic Weave to an Antiquated Enigma

As murkiness draws nigh they are fetched although not paid for,
With the dawn they are ripped off yet the pilferage is ignored.

12.

Although the early evening be familiar with lassitude and rain,
For my kinsmen who have maltreated me I can never feel disdain.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!
