As If

I ignored the voice
that whispered to me
of pattering rain
as if I could hear
anything that was above
the rumble of thunder
it’s heat swept hot asphalt
with a stinging smell
erasing what was
once there

Let's hope that what it brings is better than what was once there. It most often is, you know.

ouch, barefoot on hot asphalt.  Ouch!
You have such a nice wording.   I always enjoy reading what you've written, even though it's bittersweet at times.
