Half-Baked (And Proud Of It)
By: Noah Eaton
11/15/03

Well I've done all my homework and got my degree
I wore my collar and said my valedictory speech
I've paid my dues and followed my schedule
I've done what I've been told, y'all
But I was also made in the shade
Cuz bein' with the birds and the bees is my kinda day
I love to tune up that guitar real loud
And you better have that steel guitar around, cuz

I'm half-baked and proud of it
Lord knows I'm a work in progress
I love my lawn chair and my tanning salon sun
I ain't all about common sense
I like to drink from the hose
I love watching the green grass grow
I've got a country soul, that southern comfort bliss
I'm half-baked and proud of it

I don't care what the weatherman has to say
Cuz I'm lovin' it every step of the way
I don't mind when the light burns out on the front porch
Cuz I've got fireflies on my screen door
I put all my spare change in the church collection plate
When I ask for a ride, I love an ol' pick-up truck any day
Cuz nothin' beats an allison transmission
And a lunch pail with bratwurst and cornbread muffins

I'm half-baked and proud of it
Lord knows I'm a work in progress
I love my lawn chair and my tanning salon sun
I ain't all about common sense
I like to drink from the hose
I love watching the green grass grow
I've got a country soul, that southern comfort bliss
I'm half-baked and proud of it

Wakin' with the chickens is what I love to do
I love to walk these dirty roads like molasses in June
I never put on that much SPF-15
Guess I need a little sunburn so you can see...

I'm half-baked and proud of it
Lord knows I'm a work in progress
I love my lawn chair and my tanning salon sun
I ain't all about common sense
I like to drink from the hose
I love watching the green grass grow
I've got a country soul, that southern comfort bliss
I'm half-baked and proud of it

I've got a country soul, that southern comfort bliss
I'm half-baked and proud of it

I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sun set and I perceive

My young friend, this was a delight to read.  I know I smiled the entire through this poem, and I would love to hear you sing and strum your guitar to these words.

So smiling at you this evening!
