ahhh yes...the fall of the leaves
pretty though for a bit
before they become so gritty

although I mowed mine down
making them disintegrate faster

nakdthoughts,
Thanks for your comments.  Yes, I think they're pretty, too, but the colors don't last nearly long enough!  One of my best memories is of jumping in a pile of leaves with my friends that was about 15 feet tall, scattered next to a hill waiting for the city to remove them.  The next day the city put up a sign, "Don't jump in the leaves!"
Well, it was fun while it lasted!

C?,
Iknow what you mean.   I'm not trained, but I am picking up a little bit from friends and a book I ran across the other day.   Here are the guidelines for Diamante.  This was my first one--they're lots of fun to try.
                    1 word
2 adjectives for word in line 1
3 participles for word in line 1
4 nouns-2 related to line 1, 2 related to #7
3 participles for word in line 7
2 adjectives for word in line 7
                    1 word
(that is the opposite to the first word you wrote.)
                  Enjoy,

Economical use of words ~ yet very effective!

And thank you for the guidelines that you gave in one of your replies!

Warm hugs & smiles,

Curious form.
I enjoyed your attempt.
But I wonder . . .
Given your title, the words "green" and "brown" insist on being adjectives, not nouns.  I would think that the first and last words should be nouns.
And, what is the opposite of "green"?  Not brown, I should think.  Plainly, you mean life/death, but green/brown is a weak analogy since brown includes the primary colors in green.
(just my two cents)

Earth Angel,
Thank you.  Economical is a very good way to describe it!   Take care.

wandering glider,
Glad you wandered this way, and thanks for your reply.   As you might have read, this is my first attempt--still learning.   I, too, questioned whether I should use green and brown, but thought that possibly they could be considered nouns, also.  I really didn't check out Merriam Webster until I read your post.   I found that they could be either an adjective or a noun, depending.
As to your comment about green and brown being a weak analogy, you're probably right, however, there are different hues/shades of brown and green leaves.  I don't have a good color wheel handy, but I do know that red and green are complimentary colors. I suspect that since brown has red in it, that somewhere across on a color wheel  one might find a greenish something.  (As I think I understand, tertiary colors can also have their own complementary colors.) I know, this might be stretching it, but it was worth a try!
Thanks for your comments--I like courteous critical thinkers.  That's the way we learn.
