Listening to every heart

The Vet

He was caught up in time and tide
The Nation’s leaders took a side
VietNam became Grim Reaper's chore
Now ask the Veteran what he fought for

Anger is still shaking him deep
Nightmares still proclaim his sleep
He traveled away, so far to keep
Promises; still, his country weeps

For those who are lost and gone
His country, he, who went beyond
With the will of men who went along
For a cause they thought was strong

He led teams who went to war
Tell him please, what he fought for

Notwithstanding the polarization of thought caused by the war in Vietnam, we owe a debt to the those who died and those who came home from there.  We must remember them.  A most timely write Karilea
