in the shadows

There's a cold wind blowing in the tree tops tonight,
will your soul give me shelter 'til the dawn?
I don't offer much,
just gentle words that touch
and I sure don't mean you any harm.
My spirit's tired
and my body hardly sleeps,
I'll just sit and watch you close your eyes;
we can keep it all simple,
go meet your lover in your dreams
see, I know your heart is occupied;
I've grown bone weary
with my past hunting me
and I've gotten way too old for lies.
So dream sweet lady,
I'll stand watch through the night
while the world begs the moon to reappear;
later in the morn,
I'll leave you safely here
and we can both go on about our separate lives.
Yes I'm too old for lovers
and I've had too many wives,
I just didn't want tonight to be alone;
it's a bad time for memories
and I'm too far from home
so please,
just share a little shelter ‘til the dawn.

IceBox~
This one has that melancholy that drew me in~
You don't have to be lonely ... come into the hearts of the many poets here who just adore you~

icebox...This has a rhythm, like a song I've heard, and it weeps and it sings at the same time.  *hugs*

A little goes a long way, if we can just manage that little bit . . .

(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, dearest friend, you write with true tears and heart here and I know this feeling too where I just need somewhere warm to rest when I'm on my own and in the morning I can have the strength to move on just by that gift of gratitude and charity! (sigh) I send angel hugs your way, sweet friend, know you are loved by many including us all, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This is a vigil I've kept many times; lonely but not lonely, warm but not warm, peaceful but not peaceful. I wish you luck with it, and all the success that can be.

Icebox...Oh, this is lyrical, reminds me of these lines in another song...

"Lay, lady, lay, lay across my big brass bed
Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead.
I long to see you in the morning light
I long to reach for you in the night
Stay, lady, stay, stay while the night is still ahead...
*
I bet you know that song.....:-)

Most enjoyable read.....ice

Melancholic but full of tenderness.
Beautiful.
Love, Margherita
