Fuggedaboudid
lol.......

Sitting with her Reingold, cracking her gum,
from this Brooklyn goil to a Southern belle,
come take a ride with me and hear
the rhapsody of the subway sounds,
Canarsie to Coney, Bayridge to Flatbush,
whirling inside the head, always a circus
coming to town;
where the shot was heard throughout the world,
Travolta's bridge hugs the moonkissed bay,
sparking sands, pink candyclouds, tilt a world,
a kaleidoscope for the senses,
an ethnic smorgasbord from curry to knishes,
manicott to borsht, at a boardwalk fair,
boriquans to hasidics, to blue eyed soul,
off project roofs flew childhood dreams
on the backs of the pidgeons,
and the salt of the earth.
The place still thrives,in me - alive,
within, it rings me
with the sea, this mermaid's first home,
and many times I was told,
for a price, I could loose this nasal twang,
learn to speak like the dutchess of york,
but Eliza Doolittle , I never longed to be,
not a stuffed shirt's, not even Rex's,
Fair Lady,
never wanting to give up my defining ink.
So for those that say change your soul to fit within
I say come visit my old playground
so we could salute you, dear friend,
Italian style.

   I LOOOOVVVE  it, Michele!!!  LOL
I could just almost hear ya'll talking up there...you and Raph.  My brother worked in New York City for years and is planning to go back as soon as he can to work. He loves it there. He has a Yankee accent now.

The one who talks cute now is my daughter. She has a Massachusetts accent with a little Southern drawl to it. She says her kids and their friends kid her about talking slow.

I love all the different accents.
Hugs
Ethel
