Up the muddy path, made slime
By November rain, boots caked
I climb, the hill behind my house...
Stop!, and summer,  remember-
*
how the meadow flowers,
Stiff and tall a month ago
Now limp, lay flatter.
How, ill-now the tall-grass
Holds up their grey-brown faces;
Above, as on pikes, spent and dead...
Like drying heads, after horrid battle
*
Though they sag, and do not sing
Or urge me joy, that color brings,
My faith is found in drying seeds
Still cradled in their mothers grasp.
Silently they speak to me,
Of coming joy, but I must wait,
For spring to come, and winter pass...
*
Then the loveliness, thus promised
Will gaily decorate
Above the new-green grass,
That Attis by his death
Made fall to waste, but I must wait...
For Cybele to return and bang her drum,
Tap her tambourine,
And once again, make flowers dance.

Beautiful!
You capture the transformation and already the seeds of hope have been planted ... only patience is needed.
Love, Margherita

Hi ice! Love this my friend. You do the seasons so well. I don't get to see your work often enough though. Missing PTO buddy!

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!
