Layers of skin creaking thoughts
Lungs of sea evicting us…angry…as it should be
Who weeps slowly into blinding plight?
We stop and turn, or do we, hoard morning to ourselves
And trade the nights in excuse
Fractured lines of us go up in a chorus of rhyme
Where every lowly tone, becomes the same tune day after day
At all the wrong times…
Faint sounds rise aloud within our blackened smoke filled atriums
Year after year after year…we blind the light, never satisfied
With the blood of our victims
Chock and mock its presence…by actions, anger, disillusionment…
Fear. fear…fear

Set me up a drink….I want to see how twisted storms calm
Deny my pride, deny what I’ve become….
When children’s tears linger into old age…
Hungry black gulls ripping at their flesh
Lurking in ever dark alley, waiting like a predator
Taking the innocent on a Ferris wheel ride,
To the highest point, then holding them over the edge
Watching them drop to their death…to “their” death

And sleep…while so many talk of the forbidden fruit of Eden
Does nothing satisfy…exotic…sheeshh, that word has
Turned into something vulgar, dirty….when glowing faces turn to brown!
But we drink till we are drunk...taking more and more and more
We copy the false harsh and ugly words instead of leading by example
Wanting more, and more…taking our children by the hand, leading them to
Violence, corruption, allowing them to see and feel ever adult book store

We are never satisfied…wanting more…and more…
We call it sex…what happened to the knowledge of making love?
We’re looking for a high, we’ll never find…in and through those we don’t know.

We cry after the dead have been lowered in their graves
What tears wept before…when they lived? What skeleton fingers
Showed them the way…after staring for a time

Low life trickles from the saliva of dogs in heat
Taking, scavenging, fulfilling “their” needs….

We look first for ourselves…then if there’s anything left
We may read aloud in humble abode, chanting about our contributions

I take the form of a retarded child…searching through garbage
Afraid to speak, with little knowledge…of what should be…but
They claw at my clothes tearing them off my body
With their demeaning eyes, uncaring….turning their backs…
Calling me a menace to society….when they fear themselves...
While civilization points and stares, or turns their backs….
The special child is simply that...we are the ones that are retarded...when we don't have the faintest clue of what is happiness?  Have you ever seen or worked with a special child...seen that beam of trust, light, that effervensent glow that surrounds them...

Everyone should take the time...to go see the movie
"RADIO" as it sends a powerful message...and sets a perfect example of how rich a society can become.

Hiya to both of you....thank you both for taking the time to read and comment, apprecaite muchly.  It's so sad to see society ignore the important things in life...they don't see people's suffering, need for love...understanding and patience...fear what they don't understand or isn't within their concept...and within these special children...I see, "we" are the ones who are retarded at times????
