An old shoe box...
Penny loafers
Faded sticker, seven
Ninety eight
Inside are treasures,
Of this's
And that's
Pictures, buttons
Scraps;
Movie tickets,
Torn in half.
*
Something inside demands
These things,
I keep:
Sales slips
Snips of hair,
Reminders of strife;
The candor and guile
In saved guarantees
Of things I have no more...
All in a torn, card-board file.
*
I store, like a  rodent,
Stray seeds in a pouch.
Small tokens gained
From the turned aside stiles,
That have let my life pass.
*
Down
Down, geologic,
Digging up stone bits
In paper layers,
Examining
Things that are pleasant,
And some that displeases.
*
I lower myself
In the depths of the pit,
Find the paste-board bottom.
The foundation
Supporting this history
Is ripped at its seams...
The same way I am.
*
So with strips of ductape,
I mend the aged creases.

Duct tape, rubber bands, sealing wax...
let's give the future archeologists
something to think about...

I bet this happens alot. Lots and lots of times a day..we can all relate I think. So true to the way it really is. This reminds me of the times I go through old photos and pictures and I can remember the rise and fall of my emotions. Thanks for sharing.
Love,
Terri~

Oh, I hate that I do this, too...well, not all of it, but I do keep entirely too many things. LOL

I like this. It's cute.  :heart;

Ice

Is there nothing that ductape won't mend?  There is depth in this box of yours!  Enjoyed this very much.

(big hugggsssssssss) I too keep a shoebox of all sorts of random things, and may your shoebox be filled with contents of joys outweighing the nightmares! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ford, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I loved the entire concept and made me think of my own shoebox of random items.
