Somewhere out there~

Where Did the Flow Go?

I sit with a blank page.
Wishin' I could write something
that would be all the rage.
I haven't been able to write
for a long long time.
I pour over every word
no more flowing rhyme.
Free style?
What is that?
That's what I used to say?
It's been so long
there's been a flow,
I don't even remember the day.
Is there a word doctor,
can you find your way clear?
I fear I have lost my words
the ones I love so dear.
Can you give me a cure?
How long must this malady I endure?
It pains me you see,
not to write words
that with the other agree.
Where are you that
pushes me to write with a flow?
Oh where are you?
Where did you go?
Give me some words
that delight, and excite.
Ones that bring the ones who read
to new heights.

Whatever pushes me; if you are out there
Come revisit me..this is my prayer.

Your words are there (always) just sometimes they are temporarily unavailable.  Sometimes I try to hard to conjure up something profound instead of letting the words flow the way they wish.  Once I thought I couldn't write free verse...but Terri, such wonderful discoveries are made about oneself and one's world when one is in the free form mode. I do love rhyme and meter...the way it flows, but beautiful flow can be found in free verse as well, and when I want a bit of rhyme, I touch a free verse with a sparse bit.

This a wonderful poem which describes the feelings I have had, and I am sure many writers have had.  Don't look to one person or thing for inspiration.  Life is a Chinese buffet...(I am thinking about this Chinese restaurant in my neighborhood)...everything from onion rings to traditional Chinese dishes.  What a strange analogy, huh?  LOL

Thanks to all of you...

passingshadow-thanks sweetie...hugs to you for the encouragement.

Patricia-Thanks for this. It's true. Inspiration is a variety. hehe..onion rings made into a flowerette is pretty..it's all in the way you look at it. I had to giggle when I read this.

littlewings- What I mean is there was a time it would just flow through me. Like something just came and took over my thoughts and I would write it out on paper or type it out. Something that wasn't just me. I didn't have to pour over words I would write..it would just come to me. I had to conjure, and pour over this write to get it out on the page. It's just something I don't know if I'm explaining very well. It's just something I feel is all. Thank you so much for the read, and comment.

Deb Lynne- Thank you girl...you have no idea how much that means to hear someone say ALOT..hehehe.
I mean I am sorry you have had to feel that, and I wish none of us ever do have to, but you know what I mean, right!

Hope S- Thank you so much for telling me this. You along with so many more that I admire to read, and you are having that problem too? I would just never have thought that. Thank you I don't feel like I'm the only one. You know what I mean, too right? I just wish none of had to go through this. :'(
Love,
Terri~

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Terri, I understand this frustration ever too well, sweet friend, I have never had any long periods of writers block yet, but I still feel sometimes I never truly "touch" anyone with my poetry, for no one has ever posted a poem that said (Inspired by Mistletoe Angel), etc, and I've never really had an audience! (sigh) I for one find your poetry so meaningful and my advice to you is to keep reading, and look and take a walk in places you've never been and find something new to express! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Terri, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

The muse is always there, never doubt. Some time to read and find new inspiration is ok though.
You see, the flow did not stop after all ... you are doing great.
