To Speak of Life

This sentimental tear that drips
silently onto a page of verse
is what remains of love.
Into the deepest well a pen submersed,
and from its laden shaft a tear so intimately slips.

Though sorrow has long spent its life,
yet still it reaches back into itself
in sudden jolts that wrench a tear
from that most secret place
where it abides from year to year,
sweetly primed by memory’s music
tenderly exuded by yesterday’s ecstasy
lifted gently by the eye
from that long ago season of grief
onto a face of contentment

In truth, I do believe
the words that seem to silently bereave
are but a veil that hides the joy of all
fulfilling moments lived
and those yet in the hourglass
still waiting to be sieved

I, among the grieving hearts,
cannot stake claim to such remorse
nor should the sorrow of my days
remain forever fixed within the silence of a phrase.

To speak of life, I must allow the honey to flow free
to represent the children born,
and innocence of eyes adorned
with lashes that would rest upon a cheek
and put a mother's sacred memories to sleep.

For it was never meant that life should be
an ever flowering tree,
and even what was lost was never lost
but still remains within the heart
indelibly embossed.

Elizabeth,
"Indelibly embossed", nuff said. Touching write. Though I still remember you as "E", I
will observe the proper formalities until ( and or if) told otherwise.
"M"

(smiles) Oh Elizabeth, this is most honest and comforting poetry, sweet friend, God Bless You, life is a most difficult thing to speak of but amidst all the mix of sorrow, love, happiness and doubt, there will be an answer! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
