Writen from the viewpoint of another person.

My Brothers Are Strangers
By Paul Wilson

We never visit or talk anymore
None of your familiar knocks at my door
Strangers we have become to each other
Tell me please… what happened to my brother

Growing up together we shared so much
Special times together… now we’ve lost touch
Those times when you would have bad dreams and weep
I would talk to you… till you fell asleep

I dressed you like a little baby doll
A bundle of joy to hold I recall
Now you’ve grown into a man… big and strong
I want to be in your life…is that wrong?

Remember those days…how we use to play
A new adventure we shared everyday
We never had reason to fuss or fight
Thanking God for each other… every night

I was a girl…the two of you were boys
We would play together…sharing our toys
Sharing your silly jokes and things with me
Come back my dear brothers…this is my plea

Now that we’ve gone our separate ways
Memories…all that’s left from yesterdays
One day a year we share with each other
I need more than that from you my brother

I miss your cute smiles and brotherly hugs
I even miss you chasing me with bugs
The walls built between us can be torn down
A happier life for all… can be found

Lets share each day for the rest of our life
Loneliness in my heart cuts like a knife
Where are my dear brothers that I once knew
Tell me… do they still live inside of you?

Wow, I think we all have relationships that end up this way, we never know exactly when it happens but one day, the people we think we know are actually strangers. Thanks for sharing.

Paul, this poem literally choked me up. The distance that sometimes occurs with family members is especially sad. You really drove that home with this powerfully emotive write.

Warm hugs,
Linda

Paul, this really touched my heart. I only have one brother, (no sisters), and we used to be so close.........until he started moving all over the  United States, (and even to Russia for a couple of years) with his work. I really do miss the times we used to share together. Even though there isn't a distance in our hearts, there certainly is in space.

Hugs to you,
Ethel

Hello Paul

Your words really tugged at my heartstrings and oh how well I could relate to this.  My relationship with my sister is virtually non existent and has been so since my father died four years ago.  This thing is that my mother seems to think I am to blame but it takes two to tango and I just guess she isn't interested in my life.  I would never feel comfortable showing her any of my poetry because I feel sure she would criticise my words and think of them as trivial.  Anyway, sorry for waffling on and thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Take care.......Sue

Sue...I understand completely how you feel. It really shouldn't be about blame, it should be about getting back together and being a part of each others lives. We can't go back and re capture those days lost, but we can do something about the future. Here I go rambling on about stuff. Sorry for that Sue. I really knew you would relate to this poem. Thanks for reading and sharing.
They should all read your poetry, it is beautiful. Your sister doesn't know what she is missing...Paul

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Paul, this deeply touched my heart as I know how hard it can be to miss siblings ever so much and not get to see them like the good ol' times, sweet friend, my sister, who's two years younger than me, has been away from home a lot lately and has her boyfriend and though I am so happy for her, I do miss her too and can't be selfish! (sigh) I relate to this feeling ever too well, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
