Between the Lines

Beyond Today

When I feel the absence of it
I try to compose my own melody,
scribbled words noted just so
reminding me of all the little things
to be grateful for.

I am forever drawn to those qualities that
sometimes hide in the illusionary.
Speaking to myself, I am reminded
by my souvenirs that I dust off.
Their edges still warmed by thoughts,
their centers bringing a twinkle to light my eyes.

I hold memories in frames, journeys of my inner self
of which only I can understand.
Days of contentment, nights of excitement,
a face to make me smile...
all bordered, watching me as I move about the rooms.

I feel the pain of the tapping on my heart,
the quiet sighs of "never again"
pulling at my insides as I listen to the rain,
the crying of the day streaming down the windows
looking for a place to rest,
their place along with mine.

I see beyond today, but the sight is a blinding one
trapping me in a betrayal.
I rest on my edges awaiting that final push,
one that is sure to come, its touch
of both pleasure and pain.
~~*~~
just a quick poem ...

M

Maureen:

you know . .  here:

hold memories in frames, journeys of my inner self
of which only I can understand.
Days of contentment, nights of excitement,
a face to make me smile...
all bordered, watching me as I move about the rooms.

God I have a shrine of them myself
*smile*
Bless you

Love it nakdthoughts! Just a quick poem? Laughing out loud! Damn don't say that. If that is a quick effort then I am in trouble. My best won't be able to top it. Love the poem dear friend. Bravo!

Love to read you, M.
Thanks for being here.

I like this:

I feel the pain of the tapping on my heart,
the quiet sighs of "never again"
pulling at my insides as I listen to the rain,
the crying of the day streaming down the windows
looking for a place to rest,
their place along with mine.
